Nicholas Smith was raised in Collin County and graduated from Allen High school in 2000. Nicholas received an athletic scholarship for football as well as an academic scholarship to attend Washburn University (Topeka, KS). Nicholas graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Business marketing and management in May, 2004. 

Nicholas attended The University of Tulsa College of Law where he earned a Juris Doctor in May, 2008. Nicholas took the Texas BAR exam in February of 2008. Nicholas was subsequently licensed to practice in the state of Texas on May 22, 2008.  While attending The University of Tulsa College of Law Nicholas gained experience by working for the Tulsa County Public Defenders' Office in Tulsa, OK. Nicholas represented clients on both felony and misdemeanor charges.

Nicholas is an active member in a number of professional organizations including the State BAR of Texas, and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Nick also volunteers at Father's for Equal Rights, splitting his time between the Dallas and Fort Worth locations.
